 Strawberry
(Fragaria ananassa): Strawberries are rich in phenols,
especially anthocyanin 2 and ellagitannins. These powerful
antioxidants protect the body’s cells from free radical attact
thus they are heart-protective, anti-carcinogenic and
anti-inflammatory. These phenols lessen the activity of the
enzyme cox-oxygenase (COX) which causes unwanted inflammation
involved in such conditions as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis,
asthma, atherosclerosis and cancer. Strawberries are also an
excellent source of vitamin C and K. They also contain
manganese, iodine, fiber, potassium, folate, B2, B5, B6, Omega
3, magnesium and copper.
