 Oranges :
Oranges have phytochemicals called monoterpenes that protect
against cancer and fight existing cancers. There are several
bioflavonoids from citrus that inhibit certain cytochrome P450
enzymes. One such cytochrome enzyme P450 1B1, can activate
cigarette smoke, pesticides and other substances in the body to
become carcinogens. Hesperitin, the most abundant bioflavonoid
in the juice of oranges, inhibits P450 1B1 from metabolizing
procarcinogens, reducing the opportunity for them to become
carcinogenic. Oranges are also rich in vitamin C and folate.
