Elderberr y
(Sambucus nigra): Elderberry is known as a very powerful
antiviral agent. Elderberries are rich in anthocyanins which
have shown to enhance immune function by boosting cytokines,
proteins that act as messengers in the immune system, to help
regulate immune response. Elderberry has shown to reduce
oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Oxidation of LDL has been
implicated in atherogenesis, contributing to cardiovascular
disease. Elderberry is a rich source of nutrients including
polyphenols, antioxidants, amino acids, flavanoids, tannins and
carotenoids. Elderberry is beneficial for colds, cold sores,
infection, sore throat, sinusitis, influenza, viruses, asthma,
bronchitis, and coughing. It is also helpful for nerves, back
pain and inflammation of the urinary tract.
