 Carrott :
Carrots contain more beta carotene than any other fruit or
vegetable. Beta carotene is a precursor to vitamin A. The liver
converts it into vitamin A on an “as needed” basis. Therefore it
is known as “provitamin A”. It is a phytochemical which research
is now proving can help reduce the risk of disease, fight
infection and support bone growth and maintenance. Beta carotene
is a powerful antioxidant that scavenges free radical toxins in
the bloodstream and cells and vitamin A is essential for the
normal development and health of many body tissues, including
skin and eyes. It is considered essential for the visual cycle,
(focusing the conversion of light stimuli into electrical
impulses and pigment formation in the skin. The amount of
vitamin A required can increase up to 50- fold when working with
a computer, watching TV, driving a car at night and reading or
writing under artificial light. Carrot is considered one of
nature’s finest alkaline foods and has the ability to help
maintain intestinal flora. It also stimulates digestion and
cleanses the liver. Carrots contain glutathione which is an
important antioxidant active in the liver and participates in
cleansing processes. Glutathione also helps the body recycle
vitamin E and increases the body’s production of white blood
cells. The alkaline nature of carrot helps the body maintain
healthy pH balance. Carrots are an excellent source of calcium
pectate, an extraordinary pectin fiber that has been shown to
have cholesterol lowering properties. Carrots are also rich
vitamins B1, B6, folic acid, K, E and vitamin C. Mineral salts
include calcium, magnesium and iron as well as potassium.
Carrots help support the immune system and maintain healthy
circulation. |
