 Broccoli :
Broccoli is one of the powerhouse members of the cruciferous
vegetable family. The National Cancer Institute suggests that
broccoli, along with other vegetables may be important in the
prevention of some types of cancer. Broccoli has an impressive
nutritional profile that includes beta carotene, vitamin C,
calcium, fiber, and powerful phytochemicals, namely indoles and
aromatic isotheocynates. Chief among these is Sulforaphane,
which is known to strongly stimulate the body’s natural
detoxifying enzymes. These enzymes help prevent cancer,
diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and high blood pressure.
They also play an important role in cellular detoxification.
Broccoli has vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, folic acid, iron,
magnesium, potassium and zinc.
