 Black
Currant (Ribus nigrum): Black Currants are an excellent
source of antioxidants, contain higher concentrations of vitamin
C, potassium (K), Iron, organic acids and phenyolic compounds,
bioflavanoids and anthocyanins than most other fruits. The seeds
of the black currant are rich in GLA (gamma linolenic acid). GLA
is a precursor to anti-inflammatory hormones called
prostaglandins and may have a positive effect on a variety of
conditions ranging from menstrual problems (cramping), to skin
problems to rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. |
