Beets :
Beets are a powerhouse of healthy nutritional components.
Chief among these is betaine, which is vital to liver cleansing
processes. The rich purple pigment, betacyanin, is a powerful
cancer fighting agent. Its effectiveness against colon cancer
has been demonstrated in many studies. Beets may increase levels
of powerful detoxifying enzymes in the liver, mainly
glutathione-peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase. These
enzymes are the bodyguards for liver cells. Nucleic acids in
beets nourish cells and support cellular respiration. Beet is
blood supporting and building, supports cardiovascular health,
assists in maintaining cellular health, is a digestive
stimulator, and kidney purifier. Beet helps provide easy
assimilation of a broad spectrum of nutrients. The body
assimilates iron from beet root more easily than any other known
food (unlike other sources of iron). Beets contain
carbohydrates, some protein and fat, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6,
B12, folic acid and C, an abundance of potassium, zinc,
manganese, magnesium, chlorine, calcium, phosphorus, iodine,
sulfur, iron and copper as well as traces of organically
compounded rare metals rubidium and cesium. |
